Has Your Team had a Perfect Season?

This is a Dolfans ultimate go to no matter the argument, when it comes to the NFL whether you are a Patriot, Steeler, or Cowboys fan as far as a Dolfan is concerned; until you can say that you have an undefeated season ” be quiet”. It has been nearly fifty years since this great accomplishment. The Miami Dolphins haven’t been to the Super Bowl since 1984 when they lost the San Francisco  49ers 38-16.

What will it take for The Miami Dolphins to get back to the perfect team their fans brag about? I believe we truly need someone in the organization that had the “eye” Don Shula had.  Don Shula led the Miami Dolphins for 26 years, under the guidance of Shula the Dolphins made five Super Bowl appearances winning consecutive titles in 1972 and 1973. Shula coached greats such as Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Dan Marino, and many others. Don was something of a Merlin when it came to this game; he would find a players and play to their strengths.
perfect

Since Shula resigned the Dolphins have had many big names that just didn’t fit, for whatever reason. There was Jimmy Johnson; after what he had done with The University of Miami  starting with a shaky 8–5 record his first season, which included a game in which Johnson’s Hurricanes blew a 31–0 halftime lead in a loss to Maryland with Frank Reich as its QB, and also included a 47–45 loss to Boston College immortalized by Doug Flutie and his  “Hail Mary” touchdown pass on the game’s final play. But Johnson developed the Hurricanes into a football program that came to be known as “the Decade of Dominance”. In his five years at Miami, Johnson compiled a 52–9 record. Then he goes to Dallas and gets consecutive championships in five seasons. Yet, he gets to the Dolphins he was only good for 36 wins in 3 seasons.

We were then graced with Tony Sparano who took our 1-15 Dolphins in 2010 and took us to the playoffs in 2011. Unfortunately after another shaky season Sparano was terminated. There have been many others e.g. Dave Wannstedt, Nick Saban, and Joe Philbin. In 34 years we have not found anyone who commands the waters the way Don did.

So, my plea to the head office of the Miami organization is simply this… Ask Don Shula for help and LISTEN. I’ve even thought having Dan Marino as a QB coach but this team needs more than that. To quote one of my favorite movies The Replacements ” this team needs miles and miles of heart” something that Don Shula definitely had for his team.

The Lue Loop

Does this really look like someone who knows what’s going on? He has the look that most comedians remember their fathers looking like after any question. Tyronn Lue look lost all the time, but…

2016 NBA Finals - Game Four  What it must be like to be Tyronn Lue, I mean this guy has the kind of luck people only dream about. Really think about it he really wasn’t a good player, Lue left  the University of Nebraska early for the NBA, he was drafted 23rd overall to the Denver Nuggets who immediately traded him to the L.A.Lakers. There he got almost no playing time until the 2001 post season. where he was known for defending  Allen Iverson He received two championship rings with the Lakers. Although we all know that the true players were Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and Derek Fisher. Lue’s  his highest PPG is 13.5 with Atlanta back in 2005.  He retires as a players a two-time champion?!! REALLY? o.k. it happens right.  Then lightning struck again for Lue, he was hired as director of basketball by the Boston Celtics in 2009 where he claimed one Eastern Conference Title but lost the championship to the Lakers in his first season. L.A. Clippers gave a chance in July of 2013  and were defeated in the semi finals by Houston and in the first round by by Portland the next season.  Now enter 2014 Tyronn is hired as Cleveland’s highest paid associate coach ( he scored 8.5 PPG).  Well, what could make this any better, Lue is the highest paid assistant coach in the NBA and Lebron James is on the team. David  Blatt the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers is fired mid-season and who is there to step up to he plate… You got it, Tyronn Lue. This turn of events makes for so many firsts, Cleveland not only win the title, but they do it being down 3-1, and just like that history  is made.  Lue became the third person to win a championship as a mid-season replacement putting him in the ranks as Pat Riley.  Because of the contract extension with the Cavaliers he now able to enjoy life for the next two years. Must be nice he doesn’t need a wishing well he is THE LUE LOOP..!!

Draymond Green · Golden State Warriors · NBA

Will They 3-peat?

The Golden State Warriors current defending NBA champions.  I believe that if Donald Trump hadn’t bought Cleveland in 2016 they would have had four titles and be on their way to breaking the Chicago Bulls record. But that’s just my opinion… They were already dominating the courts in 2015 win they won their first championship in forty years.  Then they proved to be true champions when they won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.

Steph Curry was the name everybody either loved or hated. People who didn’t know who the Warriors were thought he was the ” all-star”.  We quickly learned that the entire roster was like watching “Space Jam” hand picked especially to shoot, defend, and steal.  Klay Thompson introduced himself  as  a “Splash Brother”,  Andre Iguodala off the bench is always hot, and Draymond Green proved that he is never scared, he is the pulse of of the team. In 2017 Kevin Durant joined the team he was the “fifth element”. With this team who could lose? In the 2017-2018 seasons  nobody could, I mean no they didn’t have a perfect season, but they have come close to knocking the Chicago Bulls off the pedestal.

After the dis accord on Monday with Green and Durant so early in the season will they be able to 3-peat. When communication is off it shows. Curry is injured, thankfully nothing too serious (groin injury), DeMarcus Cousins hasn’t played a minute yet, Green being suspended behind the argument.  Twitter of course is having fun with it insinuating that it is a part of a bigger plan. All we can watch and see.

Browns · Cleveland · NFL

DO YOU BELIEVE ???!!!!

This was the question Gregg Williams interim head coach of The Cleveland Browns asked of his team after his first victory. Williams joined the Browns camp in 2016 as defensive coordinator and after Hue Jackson’s dismissal was bumped up to interim head coach. Williams said in an interview with NBC that ALL wins are important. With six games left in the season, fans, Do You Believe? This season has been full of surprises, from not losing week one to actually winning a game ( who’ll ever forget the free beer).  Then came the not so surprising termination of the head coach which is pretty ritual here in Cleveland.

But it’s not only Williams who is ready for what comes with greatness, The fresh faces in Cleveland are here to make a statement. Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and Jarvis Landry are for sure the fore runners for team spirit. Landry the only veteran on my list of “let’s get it” thinking. Both Mayfield and Chubb are rookies fresh from the 2018 Draft and look at what they have done for the Browns . Mayfield stepped up week 3 after Tyrod Taylor was injured and trailing 14-0. Mayfield finished that game victorious 21-17 over the Jets. Mayfield has showed us that he has exactly what it takes to make it in the NFL, he may turn out to be what Tom Brady is to New England, that calm, commanding QB who understands that all wins matter. Nick Chubb breaking records with the teams longest TD run 92 yards against the Falcons securing the triumph on Sunday. Chubb our rookie RB hails from the University of Georgia home of the bulldogs proving he must be a DAWG at heart. Chubb has 579 yards and 5 touchdowns so far, Landry not to be forgotten as he “Blessem” every practice and game day with fight in his heart.

I don’t know about you but I definitely believe with six games left we only need 4 wins to be in a wild card position. Wouldn’t that be incredible Cleveland Browns in the post season again. Say it with me ” I Believe” it worked for the Cavs.

What’s Next for Cleveland?

Ten… that’s right  ten head coaches this millennium, with such loyalty when can the Browns expect to see so much as a playoff berth. Loyalty?? Cleveland has the most loyal fans!!! this is true because win lose or draw “The Dawg Pound” will be howling their way to a victories that are too far in between. I mean i literally took two years to see a win. It was such a big thing for the Cleveland browns to win a game that Bud Light even gave the team some incentive, by offering to give free beer to the fans, all they had to do was WIN!! It didn’t even matter if it was a home/away just win do something to show you care.

The team has potential for a lack of better word, I mean Baker Mayfield is not so bad as rookie. He is consistent with his passes and he makes plays. So they have fired Hue Jackson after only 3 wins since taking over January 2016. He is one of four coaches to have a totally defeated season ( 1960 Dallas Cowboys (0–11–1), the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0–14), the 1982 Baltimore Colts (0–8–1) and the 2008 Detroit Lions (0–16).Nov 28, 2016 ). Todd Haley the Browns Offensive Coordinator has now been let go as well.  This is all apparently stemming from backlash from HBO’s show “Hardknocks”  when Jackson and Haley clashed regarding “rest days” something that some of the players like Jarvis Landry had already shared his opinion on.

There are seven more games left this season and after the Browns face The Atlanta Falcons on Sunday November 11, 2018 at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio they will have a bye week that will hopefully allow them to attempt a strategy to win at least 3 of those games. But all we can do is wait and watch. GOOOOOO!!!! BROWNIES!!!!

The True King…

2-Pac Shakur was a lyricist beyond his time. Biggie Smalls had the type of understanding of music that allowed him to capture everyone. NAS spoke consciousness, never forgets where he comes from. Busta Rhymes is the most overlooked artist ( in my opinion). Jay-Z, what can’t be said about this mogul?  From hustler to millionaire according to Forbes, he is just 10 million dollars behind Sean “Puffy” Combs. So I decided to let you decide my peeps, who is the true king? In a discussion I once overheard someone state, that the only reason Jay-Z is a factor is because Biggie was gone.

Well let’s talk about 2-Pac. This young man had one of the most uncommon but common upbringings. Still he is looked at as the ’90’s revolutionists. His lyrics not only defined him but generation. Nas was one of the artist I personally only listened to when he was on the radio. That doesn’t mean that I missed the message, just didn’t feel like going to the mailbox at the time. Needless to say, he still made the list. Between his collaboration with Ms. Lauryn Hill and his messages to our young kings and queens, I know he is list worthy.

Then we have Busta Rhymes, this individual has been in the game since the late ’80’s. From Leaders of the New School to Flip Mode Squad Busta has been the leader of changing the game. Busta Rhymes is always the fore runner of fashion, and when it comes to spitting them bars, there are few who can contend. So that’s my input on this little test, now it’s your turn let’s see who the people truly crown King of Hip Hop

It’s up to you now, let the people decide.  whoever gets the most votes will be crowned ” The True King of Lyrics” . I am really anxious to see how this will play out, come on people unlike last election, your voice really does count. Let me know who will be the King.

It’s Finally Time

That’s right folks!! Football Season is just around the corner. One of the most satisfying parts of the 4th of July, is knowing that when you flip your calendar to the next page… there are actual NFL games scheduled for at least the next 21 weeks ( if you count the preseason) This is a beautiful thing.

What is it about this sport?

What is it about this sport? Is it the anticipation of wondering how the team will approach the next down? Will the  refs actually call the game as everyone else saw it? What rules are gonna make it more soft?

With quarterbacks not being held responsible for the actions of their team. Knowing the coaches playbooks so well, we can almost call better plays from our couch. As far as the refs go, i guess having a centralized replay division can be helpful. Only if, of course they have the authority to call down to the field if something was missed. The rule changes are a little playground like. I mean, the first three rules listed are the reason most of us watch the sport. Leaping: first they called it if you landed on or touched someone else. Fine. Now, you want to call unsportsmanlike  conduct, REALLY!!!? Do you have any idea, how hard these men have trained?

All I have to wonder is, what will NFL stand for this season? National Football League or the No Fun League as once stated. Either way I along with many will be ready and eager for the first snap of preseason. Cheering on our favorites and keeping a watchful eye on the standings. Focusing more on the upcoming Playoffs than Thanksgiving dinner, because that is what football does to true fans.  We are there like the Dawg Pound in Cleveland last season ( 1-15).  On Christmas Day with not a win on their side they showed up and supported the home team, and was rewarded with a win. That’s the beauty of this sport, like any other it brings people together for a common cause. Let’s Go Team!!! Preseason kicks off Thursday August 10,2017 and the official begins Thursday Septmber 7,2017 @ 8:30 pm.

                 Dave is back

That’s right… Dave Chappelle is back. He came back strong in a three part stand-up on Netflix. Now he is joining other big names such as Childish Gambino, The Roots, and others at Radio City Music Hall in NYC, which he has taken over for the month of August. Dave Chappelle is best known for his controversial yet hilarious skits on The Chappelle Show. His show on Netflix touches on many of the rumors that surfaced regarding his long break from the business, including issues about health and drugs. I am personally glad that Dave Chappelle is back. If you can’t make it to New York to see it this August, be sure to tune into Netflix to check out Dave Chappelle and hear about all 4 times he met O.J.

#MayweatherMcGregor

YES…it is really happening. Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. and MMA fighter Conner McGregor are scheduled to battle it out August 26,2017 in Las Vegas. What I love about this is very simple… these two are some of the best taunters that I have seen lately. Take a look at @McGregor’s post as he slyly makes reference to Mayweather’s age.

I must say, love the pink. The fact that Floyd doesn’t seem to be too worried about this upcoming bout; as he is busy promoting his new club in Las Vegas and his #Mayweatherchallenge.

Upon looking for any trash talk from Floyd I was only able to come across the name of his new club (warning explicit lyrics) Girl Collection.  Obviously he has his hands in many business ventures, but wouldn’t the real possibility of being beaten make you focus a little? Well I hope he gets more training in because my bet is on #McGREGOR.

  Chance the Rapper

What is it about Chance the Rapper? This young man has accomplished so much at his young age. He is the only artist in history to not only be nominated, but win a Grammy as an unsigned artist. He has done huge amounts of charity work including helping to intervene in the lives of  Chicago’s young men of color. He has also pledged to donate $1 million to Chicago’s Public School System, which has led to him being honored by BET with the Humanitarian Award. Although it’s not uncommon to see interpreters on stages now a days. Chance decided to stay within his community and team up with a black owned ASL company to sign for him while on tour. Chance the Rapper in my opinion is a role model. #itallstartswithyou #rolemodel #humanitarian

Between the Lines

Friday began like any other day, enjoying the day off with the Mrs.. We get through breakfast ( really brunch considering it was 1:15 pm) with no dilemma, which is pretty hard now a days. As we lounge on the couch watching T.V., she goes into the bedroom and returns rather quickly. Concerned, I ask if everything is fine. She responds yes with a confused look on her face. “Well honey what is it?” I asked. “Did you move my clothes?” she asked . Now I’m completely confused because we have been sitting in the same place for at least two hours. “What clothes??!!” I responded, and the response i got floored me.communication

This woman whom I have vowed to give the rest of my life too, looks at me and says ” I tried to throw my clothes in the hamper, but missed. They look closer to the hamper than before.” Well, let me tell you, I laughed so hard in her face. I’ll tell you why, if you think I’m so lazy that I won’t pick the clothes up and put them in the hamper, but will push them closer to it, you think I’m pretty lazy. I will admit, I do have my moments and I think it caught me off guard that she tried to call me out on it. However, being the wonderfully sarcastic individual that I am; I collected myself and responded, “really, i didn’t even notice the clothes on the floor with so many on the bed.”( Referring to the pile of clothes I had just washed the day before and she promised to fold). If looks could reach out and touch us, I would have been slapped with her eyeball.

The beauty of it all though, is because we have relationship goals and communication. Communication  is the key to any relationship, be it business or personal we have to communicate with one another. Otherwise, what was meant as a joke could be taken in a harmful way. Get to know, truly know, the people in your circle. Don’t waste time trying to read between the lines.
