Has Your Team had a Perfect Season?

This is a Dolfans ultimate go to no matter the argument, when it comes to the NFL whether you are a Patriot, Steeler, or Cowboys fan as far as a Dolfan is concerned; until you can say that you have an undefeated season ” be quiet”. It has been nearly fifty years since this great accomplishment. The Miami Dolphins haven’t been to the Super Bowl since 1984 when they lost the San Francisco  49ers 38-16.

What will it take for The Miami Dolphins to get back to the perfect team their fans brag about? I believe we truly need someone in the organization that had the “eye” Don Shula had.  Don Shula led the Miami Dolphins for 26 years, under the guidance of Shula the Dolphins made five Super Bowl appearances winning consecutive titles in 1972 and 1973. Shula coached greats such as Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Dan Marino, and many others. Don was something of a Merlin when it came to this game; he would find a players and play to their strengths.
perfect

Since Shula resigned the Dolphins have had many big names that just didn’t fit, for whatever reason. There was Jimmy Johnson; after what he had done with The University of Miami  starting with a shaky 8–5 record his first season, which included a game in which Johnson’s Hurricanes blew a 31–0 halftime lead in a loss to Maryland with Frank Reich as its QB, and also included a 47–45 loss to Boston College immortalized by Doug Flutie and his  “Hail Mary” touchdown pass on the game’s final play. But Johnson developed the Hurricanes into a football program that came to be known as “the Decade of Dominance”. In his five years at Miami, Johnson compiled a 52–9 record. Then he goes to Dallas and gets consecutive championships in five seasons. Yet, he gets to the Dolphins he was only good for 36 wins in 3 seasons.

We were then graced with Tony Sparano who took our 1-15 Dolphins in 2010 and took us to the playoffs in 2011. Unfortunately after another shaky season Sparano was terminated. There have been many others e.g. Dave Wannstedt, Nick Saban, and Joe Philbin. In 34 years we have not found anyone who commands the waters the way Don did.

So, my plea to the head office of the Miami organization is simply this… Ask Don Shula for help and LISTEN. I’ve even thought having Dan Marino as a QB coach but this team needs more than that. To quote one of my favorite movies The Replacements ” this team needs miles and miles of heart” something that Don Shula definitely had for his team.

DO YOU BELIEVE ???!!!!

This was the question Gregg Williams interim head coach of The Cleveland Browns asked of his team after his first victory. Williams joined the Browns camp in 2016 as defensive coordinator and after Hue Jackson’s dismissal was bumped up to interim head coach. Williams said in an interview with NBC that ALL wins are important. With six games left in the season, fans, Do You Believe? This season has been full of surprises, from not losing week one to actually winning a game ( who’ll ever forget the free beer).  Then came the not so surprising termination of the head coach which is pretty ritual here in Cleveland.

But it’s not only Williams who is ready for what comes with greatness, The fresh faces in Cleveland are here to make a statement. Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and Jarvis Landry are for sure the fore runners for team spirit. Landry the only veteran on my list of “let’s get it” thinking. Both Mayfield and Chubb are rookies fresh from the 2018 Draft and look at what they have done for the Browns . Mayfield stepped up week 3 after Tyrod Taylor was injured and trailing 14-0. Mayfield finished that game victorious 21-17 over the Jets. Mayfield has showed us that he has exactly what it takes to make it in the NFL, he may turn out to be what Tom Brady is to New England, that calm, commanding QB who understands that all wins matter. Nick Chubb breaking records with the teams longest TD run 92 yards against the Falcons securing the triumph on Sunday. Chubb our rookie RB hails from the University of Georgia home of the bulldogs proving he must be a DAWG at heart. Chubb has 579 yards and 5 touchdowns so far, Landry not to be forgotten as he “Blessem” every practice and game day with fight in his heart.

I don’t know about you but I definitely believe with six games left we only need 4 wins to be in a wild card position. Wouldn’t that be incredible Cleveland Browns in the post season again. Say it with me ” I Believe” it worked for the Cavs.

What’s Next for Cleveland?

Ten… that’s right  ten head coaches this millennium, with such loyalty when can the Browns expect to see so much as a playoff berth. Loyalty?? Cleveland has the most loyal fans!!! this is true because win lose or draw “The Dawg Pound” will be howling their way to a victories that are too far in between. I mean i literally took two years to see a win. It was such a big thing for the Cleveland browns to win a game that Bud Light even gave the team some incentive, by offering to give free beer to the fans, all they had to do was WIN!! It didn’t even matter if it was a home/away just win do something to show you care.

The team has potential for a lack of better word, I mean Baker Mayfield is not so bad as rookie. He is consistent with his passes and he makes plays. So they have fired Hue Jackson after only 3 wins since taking over January 2016. He is one of four coaches to have a totally defeated season ( 1960 Dallas Cowboys (0–11–1), the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0–14), the 1982 Baltimore Colts (0–8–1) and the 2008 Detroit Lions (0–16).Nov 28, 2016 ). Todd Haley the Browns Offensive Coordinator has now been let go as well.  This is all apparently stemming from backlash from HBO’s show “Hardknocks”  when Jackson and Haley clashed regarding “rest days” something that some of the players like Jarvis Landry had already shared his opinion on.

There are seven more games left this season and after the Browns face The Atlanta Falcons on Sunday November 11, 2018 at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio they will have a bye week that will hopefully allow them to attempt a strategy to win at least 3 of those games. But all we can do is wait and watch. GOOOOOO!!!! BROWNIES!!!!
